In Fergana on May 6, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan Abdusalom Azizov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan – Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev and the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Saymumin Yatimov, the press service of the State Security Service reported.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed in detail a range of problems of ensuring regional security. An exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of interaction in such areas as the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, illegal migration, smuggling and other threats and challenges of a trans-border nature.

Issues of cross-border cooperation and, in general, the creation of favorable conditions for the development of good neighborly relations between the states of the parties were touched upon.

During the dialogue, agenda items related to the delimitation of state borders between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as well as issues of demarcation of borders between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, were also considered.

The meeting participants reached agreements on accelerating the processes of delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik and demarcation of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz borders and identified measures to resolve these issues based on the mutual interests of the parties.

As a result of the negotiations, instructions were given to members of the Kyrgyz-Tajik intergovernmental commission to coordinate the remaining sections of the border, as well as to prepare and sign a corresponding bilateral agreement.
