The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has published the 2025 Global Terrorism Index, in which Uzbekistan, with a score of 0.233, ranked 90th and was classified among the countries with a low terrorism threat.

The Global Terrorism Index is a comprehensive study that analyzes the impact of terrorism across 163 countries, covering 99.7% of the world's population.

The index measures the level of terrorist activity within a country based on the number of attacks, casualties, injuries, and the extent of material damage. The higher a country’s ranking, the greater the terrorism threat it faces.

Among Central Asian nations, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan (ranked 100th with a score of 0) were recognized as the countries with the lowest terrorism threat. Meanwhile, Tajikistan ranked 70th with a score of 0.999.

Russia, which ranked 16th, was classified among countries with a high terrorism risk. Belarus and Azerbaijan shared the 90th position, while Armenia ranked 79th.

At the top of the ranking are countries with the highest levels of terrorist activity and threats. Experts identified Burkina Faso, Pakistan, and Syria as the most dangerous in this regard.

Overall, as highlighted in the report, terrorism remains a persistent global threat, and 2024 saw an expansion in the geography of terrorism.

The number of countries where at least one terrorist incident occurred increased from 58 to 66, marking the highest figure since 2018.

In 2024, for the first time in seven years, more countries experienced a deterioration in their security situation than an improvement: 45 countries saw an increase in terrorism threats, while only 34 countries recorded improvements.
