Delegation of Indian Electoral Commission to take part in the upcoming presidential elections in Uzbekistan
Ambassador of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov met with the head of the Electoral Commission, Chief Electoral Commissioner of India Rajiv Kumar, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

During the meeting, detailed information was provided on the large-scale democratic reforms being carried out in our country, including changes and additions to the new version of the Constitution, approved at a national referendum on April 30.
Attention was drawn to the fact that Uzbekistan was declared a democratic, legal, social and secular state, human interests are at the center of all reforms, loyalty to human rights and freedoms, national and universal values, universally recognized principles of international law was confirmed.
At the meeting, the Indian side was informed that, based on the essence of the constitutional reform and the content of the updated Basic Law, early presidential elections were scheduled for July 9 in Uzbekistan.
Rajeev Kumar, for his part, noted that the constitutional reform carried out in Uzbekistan was an important step towards further democratization of the country, and highly appreciated the consistent efforts in this direction. He emphasized that the process of dynamic changes in the New Uzbekistan is warmly welcomed by the international community.
The Chief Electoral Commissioner said that a delegation of the Electoral Commission of India would take part in the early presidential elections in Uzbekistan, which became a logical continuation of the constitutional reform, as part of a mission of international observers.
During the conversation, it was also noted that the parties had prepared a draft Memorandum of Cooperation between the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan and the Election Commission of India, which would be signed soon.
