According to the CEC press service, in accordance with articles 16 and 18 of the law “On the referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, article 16 of the Electoral Code, the regulation on the formation of referendum precincts and precinct commissions for holding a referendum at diplomatic and other representations in foreign states, approved by a CEC resolution dated July 13, 2022, referendum polling stations at diplomatic and other representative offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan in foreign states are created in accordance with the presentation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Based on these requirements of the law, at a meeting of the CEC, a decision was made to create 55 referendum sites at the diplomatic and other representations of Uzbekistan in foreign countries, with the 14th Tashkent city referendum district assigned to them.
In addition, at the meeting, based on the MFA presentation, a decision was made to accredit observers from the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) to participate in the referendum as observers.
The meeting also considered the issue of accreditation of representatives of a number of local mass media.
