Rosselkhoznadzor detects quarantine virus in nectarines from Uzbekistan

As the organization’s press service reported, on September 10, negotiations between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the State Inspectorate for Plant Quarantine under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan were held in the format of a videoconference.

The Russian side reported that in the consignments of Uzbek nectarines, it discovered a fungal disease that is quarantine for the EAEU member states – brown monilious rot (Monilinia fructicola).

The Rosselkhoznadzor noted that earlier this quarantine object had not been detected in Uzbek fruits, asked to conduct an investigation, find out the origin of nectarines and ensure the supply of products to Russia grown only in zones, places, areas free from the disease. 

It was also emphasized that brown monilious rot affects not only stone fruit, but also pome crops, which should also be carefully checked by the Uzbek side. 

“Another topic of the dialogue was the more frequent detection of the eastern moth (Grapholitha molesta Busck.) in Uzbek products. The Uzbek side confirmed the increased number of notifications received from the importing countries on the identification of this insect and assured that it intends to adjust the control program by spreading it,” the message reads.

It also became known that the State Plant Quarantine Inspectorate asked the Rosselkhoznadzor to hold training seminars for Uzbek specialists on the fight against the eastern moth and methods of fumigation of goods.
