At the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay an official visit to Malaysia on February 4–5. During the visit, he will hold bilateral talks with Anwar Ibrahim, meet with the heads of Malaysia’s leading companies, and participate in a joint business forum and other events in Kuala Lumpur, according to the President's press service.
The agenda of the upcoming high-level talks includes strengthening Uzbekistan-Malaysia friendly relations and expanding practical cooperation in priority areas such as trade, investments, innovations, technological cooperation, petrochemicals, electronics, green energy, smart agriculture, tourism, and more. Special attention will also be given to enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The leaders will also discuss pressing issues of international politics and regional cooperation.
At the conclusion of the summit, a joint statement and a package of significant agreements aimed at further developing the comprehensive partnership between the two countries are expected to be signed.
Ahead of the visit, a number of important events are taking place in Malaysia.
In particular, a meeting of leading analytical and research institutions has already been held. In the coming days, presentations on Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and cultural heritage, a forum of rectors from leading universities of both countries, and other events will be organized.
For reference, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim paid an official visit to Uzbekistan on May 17–19 last year.
