Under Article 116 of Uzbekistan’s Constitution and Article 7 of the Law "On the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan," the government must step down after the formation of a new Oliy Majlis. This ensures a smooth transition and alignment of executive leadership with the newly established legislative framework.

Despite the resignation, the Cabinet of Ministers will continue to operate temporarily under a presidential decree. This measure is aimed at ensuring continuity in governance and preventing disruptions in the government’s activities until a new Cabinet is formed.

The next steps involve the president appointing a new prime minister and members of the Cabinet, who must be approved by the Oliy Majlis.
