Regina Maria Castillo takes charge of UNICEF's Uzbekistan office
Regina Maria Castillo has commenced her duties as the head of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) office in Uzbekistan.

Prior to this appointment, she served as the UNICEF Representative in Croatia and Paraguay.
Before joining UNICEF in 2016, Ms. Castillo worked in the capacity of UNAIDS Country Director for Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru, Chief of Private Sector Partnerships for UNAIDS in Switzerland, and Economic and Social Affairs Officer at the Executive Office of the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan in the United States.
She studied Economics and International Relations at Western Washington University and holds a Master’s Degree in Government and International Affairs from the University of Notre Dame.
She is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
