The first car at the Uzavtosanoat automobile plant in Kyrgyzstan will be produced by the end of May. The head of the Altyn Tulpar Unaa Kurulush project, Bakhadyr Bakhautdinov, said this in an interview with the Kyrgyz TV channel ElTR.
According to him, the launch of the first stage of the joint project with Uzavtosanoat is scheduled for the end of May. The total area of the plant is 18 thousand sq. m.
“The first stage will be assembly with further localization. The first car will come out with the opening of the plant. By the end of May, we plan to release the first car – Chevrolet passenger cars and Isuzu commercial vehicles,” Bakhadyr Bakhautdinov stated.
Uzavtosanoat agreed to organize car production in Kyrgyzstan on January 27 during a business forum between the two countries. The concern's partner in the joint venture will be the DT Technik company.
During the first year of operation of the plant, it is expected to produce 10 thousand cars using the large-unit assembly method. In the future, production will increase to 30 thousand cars and expand to small-unit production with the localization of some components.
Construction of a plant for the assembly and production of cars in the Chui region began in mid-May last year. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov called the project “strategically important for both countries”.
At the end of January, the Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiyev announced the postponement of the launch of the automobile plant for six months due to bad weather. The first products were planned to be presented by the end of June.
