According to them, on the hottest days of the first and second decades, the air warmed up to 39-42°C, in the extreme south of the republic up to 43-45°C.
“On their own, such June temperatures are not exceptional. The absolute maximum temperature for June for all the years of meteorological observations is 42-44°C, in the desert zone and the south 45-48°C. But such a long period with temperatures significantly above the norm at the beginning of summer is quite rare in Uzbekistan,” the report reads.
In the third decade of June, a series of cool air intrusions from the Caucasus took place on the territory of Uzbekistan, which lowered the temperature background. The average temperature of the third decade in most of the territory was 1-2°C lower, in some places near the norm.
The daily air temperature during this period dropped to 33-38o, and in the middle of the decade to 28-30°C. Even in the extreme southern regions, the heat has weakened to 35-37°C.
On the whole, July turned out to be 2-3°C above the norm, in the north near the norm.
In Tashkent, the highest temperature this June was 40.5°C, the maximum temperature twice exceeded 40°C.
The highest temperature in June (the absolute maximum temperature) for all the years of observations in Tashkent is 43.0°C. In June 2021, which until this year ranked first among the hottest, the maximum temperature in Tashkent rose to 42.6°C.
Due to a long period of hot weather, June 2023 in Tashkent became the hottest on record, ahead of June 2021. The average temperature in June 2023 was 0.4°C higher than in June 2021.
June 2023 was in first place in the ranking of the warmest Junes in most of the territory of Uzbekistan. Another feature of June 2023 was that it turned out to be relatively cool in the territory of Karakalpakstan, the Khorezm region and the north of the Navoi region. This region, especially in recent years, warmed up quite strongly in the summer months.
However, this year, relatively cool air from the regions of Russia repeatedly penetrated the northwestern regions of the republic, and the temperature background was kept within optimal limits, only on certain days, in places rising to 40-41°C (1-3 days).
“June 2023, in addition to the unusual temperature regime, was characterized by extreme dryness over most of the territory of the republic. During the month, the amount of precipitation did not exceed 0-30% of the monthly norm for June,” the forecasters concluded.
