According to the press service of the oversight agency, on February 24, a meeting was held between the head of the PGO international legal department R. Giyasov and representatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation under the US Department of Justice.
“At the event, the parties discussed a number of issues aimed at strengthening relations between departments, in particular, they highlighted the areas of organized crime, legal assistance in criminal cases, extradition and similar areas,” the report reads.
In addition, the parties exchanged views on a draft cooperation program prepared to ensure the implementation of the provisions of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two departments.
Also, during the meeting, the head of the international legal department thanked the US FBI representative E. Jones for his work in Uzbekistan, and also wished success to F. Tensi, who was appointed the new FBI representative at the US Embassy in Tashkent.
R. Giyasov expressed confidence that relations between the FBI and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan would be strengthened and reach a new level.
It should be recalled that in December 2017, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan and the Federal Bureau of Investigation signed a memorandum of understanding.
The memorandum provides for the exchange of experience and information on legislation and law enforcement practice, advanced methods of investigation and modern mechanisms for deepening theoretical and practical skills in conducting research in this area.
