Criminal case launched over sale of banned slimming supplements in Uzbekistan
Sales of several types of imported slimming coffee have been blocked in Uzbekistan after authorities discovered they contained sibutramine – a powerful substance regulated under national law.

A joint operation conducted by the State Security Service’s Bukhara regional department and the Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office was carried out in Gijduvan district. Investigators, accompanied by witnesses, searched the residence of a previously convicted individual.
The search revealed large quantities of weight-loss products imported without customs clearance or documentation. Among the seized items were:
- 34,050 units of KETO COFFEE MIX SLIM COFFEE
- 2,790 units of SLT SLIM LUX COFFEE
- 3,000 units of HOODIA CACTUS SLIMMING COFFEE
- 720 units of SLIM GREEN COFFEE

According to an assessment by the Center for the Safety of Pharmaceutical Products, these items contain sibutramine – a powerful substance included in Uzbekistan’s list of controlled substances, as established by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 818 (2019) on the regulation of circulation of potent compounds.
As a result, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 251-1, Part 5 of the Criminal Code. Investigators are currently working to clarify the origins and import routes of these products as part of the ongoing investigation.
