Over 67,000 violations were uncovered in Uzbekistan’s fuel and energy sector in the first half of the year, according to a report from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The report states that more than 70,000 inspections were conducted in the sector over six months to ensure legal compliance. As a result, over 67,000 violations were identified, and 758 billion UZS in damages was recovered.
During this period, prosecutors restored the violated rights of 248,000 citizens in relation to legal breaches uncovered by their investigations.
“The inspections and preliminary investigations led to the recovery of 1.3 trillion UZS in damages caused to citizens and the state by those found responsible,” the report said.
In addition to oversight efforts, prosecutors organized 842 job fairs across the country during the first half of the year, helping 5,389 unemployed individuals find jobs.
The report also notes that the rights of 9,000 entrepreneurs were restored, while more than 18,000 others received assistance in resolving their issues.
As a result of prosecutorial oversight, 5,661 construction projects included in state programs were delivered on time, contributing to savings of 3.7 trillion UZS in public funds.
The report also states that 861 hectares of land that had been illegally seized were returned to the state land reserve.
Meanwhile, over six months, 977 criminal cases were opened in connection with the illegal seizure or misuse of 626 hectares of land across the country.
