“When we talk about a fair trial, what do we represent? If this is a criminal case, then it is the investigator, prosecutor, lawyer and judge who puts an end to this case. If they are professionals and the process is free of corruption, then we can ensure a fair trial. Can we now say that a fair trial is ensured? Unfortunately not,” she said at an IPC press conference.
Svetlana Artikova recalled that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also spoke about this during his address to the Oliy Majlis and the people.
It should be recalled that on November 14, 2022, the head of state held a meeting on priority tasks in the field of ensuring justice.
During the meeting, it became known that an average of 1.5 million people turn to the courts every year. There is a lot of red tape, as the regional courts do not show sufficient responsibility for making fair decisions. For example, since the beginning of 2022, 18 thousand citizens who are dissatisfied with the decisions of regional courts have applied to the Supreme Court.
“Litigation continues in the old way, the authority of lawyers is low. Investigators have stopped working on themselves,” the presidential press service said then.
