On October 18, the Minsk City Executive Committee discussed new opportunities for expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan, proposed by the embassy of this country in the Republic of Belarus, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
As Nadejda Lazarevich, deputy chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, noted during the talks, all topics are interesting in relations with Uzbekistan, economic development, tourism, cooperation in the field of culture. “Minsk has a good export rate in cooperation with Uzbekistan, 130% in the first half of 2022, at the same time, our Uzbek partners are also not inferior, imports are growing. Fresh vegetables and fruits from this country come to us, we ship agricultural equipment, tractors, MAZs to our partners. It is gratifying to note that the “Atlant” Minsk plant is also growing in supplies, its refrigerators and washing machines are present in Uzbekistan as a group of goods,” the newspaper quotes the deputy chairman of the executive committee as saying.
The publication reports that during the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of increasing the volume of mutual deliveries, expanding the presence of Minsk products not only in Tashkent and large cities of Uzbekistan, but also in relatively small settlements, as well as the prospects for opening an Uzbek Trading House in Minsk.
“Direct deliveries of fruits and vegetables from Central Asia will be in demand not only in the off-season, but also now, during the autumn agricultural fairs. The city is ready to provide separate fairgrounds for fruits and vegetables of Uzbekistan. Hot dishes of national Uzbek cuisine will be in demand among Minsk residents and guests of the city, as well as on Christmas and New Year holidays during the January “Kalyadnaga kirmash”. In a word, there are ample opportunities for the implementation of all plans, including for the House of Trade proposed by the Uzbek side,” Minsk-Novosti wrote.
The article emphasizes that the issues of tourism development have become a separate topic. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, our countries are similar in mentality, there are no language barriers and differences in the well-being of citizens. Belarus has a developed sanatorium and health-improving base. It was noted that, in turn, the Belarusians have something to see in ancient Bukhara and Samarkand, one can feel the taste of oriental hospitality, and warm up in the cold winter with the hot climate of the East.
