“Given the extremely high potential for accelerating growth in the short and medium term of the countries of South Asia, it is necessary to take joint efforts to develop cargo transportation with the countries of South Asia. Currently, there is a possibility of favorable transportation of goods through the territory of Afghanistan to Pakistan, so our national carriers are gradually testing and have already started to transport trucks through Afghanistan,” the minister said.
According to the Ministry of Transport, in the first half of 2022, the volume of transported goods increased by 2.6 times and amounted to 330,000 tons.
In addition, over this period, on this route, transit transportation of goods to/from the CIS countries, the Middle East, the Caucasus and the EU increased by 3.5 times compared to the same period in 2021 and amounted to 52,000 tons.
