Truck imports to remain duty-free until 2028

Trucks meeting the "Euro-5" environmental standard and higher will remain exempt from customs duties and recycling fees for an additional three years, as announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a February 7 meeting focused on developing the country’s transport infrastructure.

To increase the share of local freight forwarders in international cargo transportation, they will be exempt from VAT. As a result, the Ministry of Transport is tasked with increasing their share to 25% this year and 50% by 2026.

Trucks that meet the "Euro-5" and higher environmental standards were previously exempt from customs duties and recycling fees from August 2021 to January 1, 2025. The President has now approved an extension of this privilege until 2028.

President Mirziyoyev also instructed relevant authorities to collaborate with private airlines to double the number of flights to Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Nukus, and Termez. Additionally, air traffic is to be increased by at least 20% this year, with a goal of serving 15 million passengers.

The president also highlighted the need to accelerate the introduction of modern electric train services between Tashkent, Yangiyul, Chinaz, and the Syrdarya region.
