Media: ICT Minister and Prime Minister’s Adviser have been fired after Telegram scandal
Following the incident related to the restriction of Internet platforms, Adviser to the Prime Minister and Head of the Department for Development of IT Technologies, Telecommunications and Innovative Activities Olimjon Umarov and Minister of ITC Development Shukhrat Sodikov have been relieved of their posts, the “Nigoh” channel, which is affiliated with the presidential administration, reports.
“Severity of the measures taken shows that the President will not overstay any official who violates order and discipline, acts irresponsibly and arbitrarily,” the statement said.

On November 3, Uzkomnazorat’s ban on social networks (Telegram, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Odnoklassniki), which were added to the register of infringers of personal data, caused a stir.

The Uzbek government’s decision was found to be a mistake, and when the President was informed, prompt action was taken. The head of Uzkomnazorat Golibsher Ziyayev has been fired and an investigation is underway.
