Eldor Shomurodov is close to moving from Genoa to Roma. The transfer amount will exceed €16 million.
Italian journalist and football insider Nicolò Schira said Genoa and Roma have reached an agreement on the transfer of striker Eldor Shomurodov.
“The agreement has been reached! Eldor Shomurodov will move from Genoa to Roma on loan. Roma will also receive the right to buy the player for €16 million. The contract states that the FC Genoa will receive a certain share of the future transfer of the Uzbek footballer,” Schira wrote.
The annual rent for Shomurodov for the Genoese club is €2.5 million.
It is reported that Shomurodov will sign a contract with Roma until 2026.
If Shomurodov can successfully play under the leadership of José Mourinho, the total cost of the transfer could be €19-21 million in the form of bonuses for player performance.
Under the photo of Eldor Shomurodov with Mourinho in 2019 on Instagram, Roma fans welcome the Uzbek footballer.
Roma’s management wanted to get the Norwegian striker of Leipzig Alexander Surlot, but Mourinho said that he needed either the Iranian striker of Zenit, Sardor Ozmun, or Shomurodov. At the moment, the main contender for the Iranian striker is Bayer Leverkusen.
Another Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, writes that if Roma cannot get Ozmun, they will turn their full attention to Shomurodov. According to him, the Roma club offered €15 million for Eldor, while Genoa said they could release the striker for €20 million.
Eldor played 32 times for Genoa in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.
It should be recalled that Eldor Shomurodov moved from Rostov to Genoa in 2020 for €7.5 million and signed a contract with the Italian club until 2024.
