On June 22 of this year, the second meeting of the joint commission at the level of the heads of government of Uzbekistan and Russia was held in Moscow.
At the meeting chaired by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, it was noted that the relations of strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia were enriched with practical content.
They noted the consistent provision of the implementation of the agreements reached as a result of the summit meetings. Active negotiations are being held between ministries and departments, mutual visits are being organized, new promising areas of cooperation are being determined.
They especially emphasized the fact that the activity of these relations will contribute to the practical content of the agenda of the expected visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Russia.
According to the heads of government, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia is steadily developing in trade-economic, investment, transport and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Despite the pandemic, there has been mutual trade growth since the beginning of the year. Over the past period of this year, trade turnover increased by 15% in relation to 2020.
The Presidents of the two countries have set before the heads of government the task of bringing the trade turnover to $10 billion in the near future. It was noted that such a result can be achieved only by removing barriers in mutual trade and taking consistent practical measures to assist in bringing the products of Russian and Uzbek manufacturers to the markets of the two countries.
The event also discussed issues of consistent development of bilateral partnerships in the fields of transport, education, medicine, external labor migration, as well as in the cultural-humanitarian sphere.
As a result of the meeting, more than 10 documents, aimed at further development of cooperation, were signed.
