The CIS Economic Council will be held on June 16 in Moscow at the VDNKh, Sputnik reports.
According to the data, the executive committee proposed to hold it in the pavilion “Uzbekistan”, which is currently undergoing major repairs.
“We have a pavilion of Uzbekistan at VDNKh, which, as I understand, will be opened this year. And we tentatively scheduled the Economic Council at VDNKh. We would like to hold it in the pavilion of the CIS state member,” Sergey Ivanov, deputy chairman of the CIS executive committee said. To which the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Botirjon Asadov said: “We will try!”
It should be noted that Uzbekistan plans to hold around 70 events within the framework of the CIS chairmanship in 2020.
The decision to transfer the presidency of the Commonwealth in 2020 from Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan was made in October 2019 at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State in Ashgabat.
Among the priority areas that the republic intends to develop as the CIS chair-country are strengthening and building up trade and economic ties, including the study of transport and logistics.
In addition, Tashkent considers scientific-technical cooperation an important priority, without which the effective work of all structures is impossible. A separate topic is regional security, the fight against cross-border challenges: terrorism, drug trafficking and crime.
