Chief Prosecutor of Ankara comments on Nadira Kadirova’s case

For two weeks, the death of an Uzbek citizen Nadira Kadirova in the house of a deputy of the Turkish parliament remains one of the most publicly discussed topics in both countries.

Kun.uz correspondent, with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Turkey, talked about the investigation with the Chief Prosecutor of Ankara city Yüksel Kocaman.

At the beginning of the conversation, the prosecutor stressed the strength of fraternal ties between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Turkey.

“First of all, I must say that sincere and friendly ties connect us with Uzbekistan. We do not want the fraternal people of Uzbekistan to be offended by us.

We will complete the investigation fairly, regardless of the status of people involved in it. Uzbek citizens are under our protection,” Kocaman said.

According to the Chief Prosecutor of Ankara, the media present the situation in a hypertrophied form. Taking advantage of this, some are trying to denigrate the ruling Justice and Development party.

“Due to the fact that the tragedy occurred in the house of a deputy of the ruling party, many rumors and speculations appear.

Some publications go on open provocations against the party, putting pressure on it. All this is also used in the fight between parties. However, we will not succumb to provocations and conjectures. The media may continue to pressurize, but we will do our job professionally,” he says.

Yüksel Kocaman, talking about the tragic incident, said that some facts indicate a possible suicide.

“We are examining material evidence seized in the room where the girl died, a video was taken there. At the end of the investigation, all material evidence will be presented.

The first evidence is that upon arrival of the police, the girl’s room was locked inside. But we are not going to rely solely on this, a full-fledged investigation is being conducted.

Rumors are circulating that the shot was fired from a pistol held with two hands. However, the examination found that the gun was held with one hand. We took fingerprints of everyone who was in the house,” the prosecutor says.

Yüksel Kocaman commented on the doubts caused by the hasty sending of the corpse to her homeland.

“This is not true. The body was sent to Uzbekistan only after we carried out all the examinations and took the necessary samples. Examination data are stored for 100 years.

The investigation is underway. After we receive the final conclusion of the forensic medical examination, it will be publicized,” he said.

At the end of the conversation, Ankara’s Chief Prosecutor expressed his condolences to the family members of the deceased and the people of Uzbekistan.

It should be recalled that Nadira Kadirova, born in 1996, worked for more than a year in the house of a retired general Şirin Ünal. On September 23, according to preliminary police reports, she shot herself with a pistol belonging to the general, consequently, died in the hospital.

Kadirova’s brother and friend put forward the assumption that the deceased before her death could be subjected to sexual violence or harassment. The deceased’s friend Laylo Niyazova claims that she spoke about this with her on the phone, and Kadirova’s brother believes that she did not have any suicidal thoughts. The girl was even planning to enter a university.

The other day, Deutsche Welle published an article under the heading “Suspicion in the case of Nadira’s death grows”. It says that, allegedly, when washing the corpse before burial in Uzbekistan, not one, but two bullet wounds and bruises were found on her body.
