Deputy Minister of Labor proposes to allocate free hosuing to young doctors in rural areas

Bakhodir Umurzakov
The problem related to shortage of medical workers in rural areas can be solved by providing them with free housing and wage increases, Deputy Minister of Labor Bakhodir Umurzakov said.
According to Kun.uz correspondent, B. Umurzakov stated this at a meeting of the Senate Committee on Science, Education and Health.
“There must be an order on the basis of a contract. According to the law, a graduate of a medical school cannot be forcibly sent to rural area. This is forced labor. But he can be interested if economic and social incentives are offered.
For example, if the government decides to provide housing for young doctors in rural areas, and we, together with the ministries, provide additional salaries, then young doctors will be happy to work there,” he said.
The Deputy Minister of Labor also noted that it is necessary to separately determine the volume of medical care, introduce national standards of medicine and increase the number of nurses.
“If we do not legislate this in the near future, we will not achieve any progress,” Bakhodir Umurzakov concluded.
