It was noted during the meeting that the annual budget allocation for purchasing modern medical equipment for hospitals is no less than 100 billion UZS. In 2024, the sector attracted $200 million in foreign investments and $94 million in grants, enabling regional and district clinics to acquire MRI and CT scanners.

This year, budget funding for such purposes will increase to 200 billion UZS, alongside plans to attract $370 million in foreign financing for the healthcare sector.

For maternity facilities, $100 million will be allocated from the Asian Development Bank to purchase six ambulances equipped with intensive care units and 21,000 pieces of medical equipment across 45 categories.

Clinics in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm will receive cardiovascular treatment equipment funded by €30 million from KfW. The bank will also provide €13.5 million for the construction of a high-tech medical training center and dormitory in Termez.

The president instructed officials to prioritize the upskilling of doctors and medical personnel to operate the newly acquired equipment. He also stressed the need for more efficient utilization of existing technology, citing that the average usage rate of angiography devices in regional clinics is only 34%.

To improve the management of high-tech equipment in state medical facilities, initiatives involving outsourcing and public-private partnerships are set to be implemented.
