Wi-Fi operator Sola plans to create over 45,000 access points in Uzbekistan

Wi-Fi operator Sola expects to attract $110 million to deploy its network, which will bring the number of access points up to 45,000, the company told Kun.uz.
Sola is currently implementing a project to build and deploy a Wi-Fi network in Tashkent and the Tashkent region.
“The project plan involves the construction of a broadband Wi-Fi network across Uzbekistan for 5 million subscribers. In total, it is planned to install more than 45,000 Wi-Fi access points,” the company said.
Foreign direct investment in the amount of more than $12 million was attracted during the first stage of construction. In general, it is planned to bring in $110 million for implementation of this project.
Reportedly, construction of the network is planned to be divided into three stages. The first stage involves development of a network in Tashkent and the Tashkent region for 1 million subscribers (5,000 access points). At the second stage, the network will cover 3 million subscribers in Samarkand and in the Fergana Valley (22,000 access points). The final stage will cover 1 million subscribers in the Bukhara and Navoi regions (18,000 access points).
Asia Wireless Group launched this project at the end of 2018. The Sola system provides two types of access – paid and free. Free access is provided after watching a commercial ad. Paid tariffs work without traffic restrictions.
