Graduates of vocational and training schools to be given right to enter universities without exams

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On additional measures to further improve the system of vocational education”.

According to the decree, starting from the academic year 2020/2021, a network of educational institutions is being created in Uzbekistan with the introduction of a new system of primary, secondary specialized vocational education and differentiated educational programs in their work, preparing the appropriate personnel based on these programs.

In addition, the document determines that a total of 388 buildings of vocational colleges will be used as schools according to the corresponding list.

In the system of primary, secondary and secondary specialized vocational education, a network of professional educational institutions will be organized. It will consist of vocational schools, colleges and technical schools, where appropriate educational programs are introduced.

At the same time, in vocational schools, graduates of the 9th grade will receive a 2-year full-time education. Students will be provided with a monthly stipend and three meals a day at the expense of the state budget.

At colleges, persons with at least a general secondary education, depending on the complexity of professions and specialties, will receive education on the state order (on a tuition fee basis) in the form of full-time, evening and distance education for up to 2 years.

At vocational and training schools, persons with a general secondary education are provided with education on the state order and on a tuition fee basis in the form of full-time, evening and distance education for a period of at least 2 years, based on the complexity of professions and specialties.

Graduates of vocational and training schools have the right to continue their studies at universities in the relevant areas of undergraduate education starting from the 2nd year without taking entrance exams on the basis of an individual interview.
