Biometric passports of citizens of Uzbekistan are not used for traveling abroad simultaneously with exit permit stickers, Kun.uz correspondent was informed about it by the head of the department for Migration and Registration of Citizenship at the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of Tashkent city lieutenant colonel Sanjar Kosimov.

He noted that it is prohibited to travel abroad having both of these documents. “While issuing an international passport to a citizen of Uzbekistan traveling abroad, a mark of “annulled” will be stamped on the existing exit permit sticker. Therefore, practically using them together is prohibited,” the lieutenant colonel explained.

The representative of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate also commented on the cases of refusal of citizens to issue international passports. “For citizens of the republic leaving the country for a long time, conditions are created for smooth and timely receipt of international passports. In other cases, failures are possible due to a very large number of applications. In accordance with the established procedure, you can get a passport no earlier than 6 months before expiration of the sticker,” Sanjar Kosimov said.

Starting from January 1, 2019, issuance of two-year exit permit stickers for traveling abroad has been ceased. Instead, Uzbekistan introduced an international passport for citizens travelling abroad, which is valid for 10 years.

The amount of the state duty for obtaining an international passport is 1,2 MMW (243,276 soums). For citizens under 16, the state duty amounts to 0,8 MMW (162,184 soums).

For stateless persons, including those who are under 16, permanently residing in the territory of the republic, the state duty is 1 MMW – 202,730 soums.
