Nurlan Nigmatulin, the Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament, and Nurdinjon Ismoilov, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Uzbek Senate of Oliy Majlis, signed a memorandum of cooperation, the press service of the House of Parliament of Kazakhstan said in a statement.
According to the report, the document, opening a new page in Kazakh-Uzbek inter-parliamentary relations, was signed as part of the first official visit of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan in the history of bilateral contacts.
During the meeting, Mr. Nigmatulin and Mr. Ismoilov discussed issues of cooperation between Kazakh and Uzbek parliaments. They noted the growing dynamics of Kazakh-Uzbek interaction over the past few years, while emphasizing that the agreements reached between the presidents of the two states, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Shavkat Mirzieyev, demonstrate an example of constructive cooperation, developing in the spirit of good neighborliness and mutual understanding.
“Today, due to effective joint activities based on mutual understanding and friendship of the presidents, a trusting political dialogue has been established between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and a solid foundation has been laid for further development of comprehensive cooperation in all spheres. All this allows us to bring affable contacts of Kazakh and Uzbek parliamentarians to a qualitatively new level,” N. Nigmatulin said.
In turn, N. Ismoilov noted that this visit is a great opportunity to discuss the current state of cooperation and the prospects for further interaction of parliaments.
According to the memorandum, the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan will develop inter-parliamentary cooperation with the purpose of strengthening friendly relations between the countries. In addition, the parties within their competence will contribute to the expansion of the juridical base of bilateral contacts, promote the speedy ratification and entry into force of international treaties.
