8.2 million tourists visited Uzbekistan in 2024
Accordin to a report from the Statistics Agency, 8.2 million foreign nationals visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes in 2024, up from 6.6 million in 2023 — an increase of 1.6 million visitors.

The total number of visitors included 4.077 million women (49.8%) and 4.104 million men (50.2%).
Since the start of 2024, the number of incoming tourists has steadily increased month by month. In January alone, 4,601 people from European Union countries visited Uzbekistan for tourism. From January to March, a total of 1.519 million foreign nationals arrived in the country.
By the end of May, more than 2.8 million foreign nationals had visited Uzbekistan. Among them, 10,600 were from the United States.
By June, the total number of tourists surpassed 3.5 million. By October 1, the number of arrivals had reached 5.7 million.
In a video conference meeting held in June 2024, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was noted that there is a natural rise in demand for water parks and swimming pools during the summer months. However, it was also pointed out that there are no modern water parks in Uzbekistan that could serve as a “magnet” for tourists. The authorities were tasked with increasing the number of water park and pool projects, creating a master plan for lakes, dividing the surrounding areas into lots, and offering these plots to entrepreneurs.
The meeting also stressed the need to improve Uzbekistan’s festival calendar and reconsider the requirements for hosting concerts by popular international artists.
Furthermore, officials were instructed to engage in discussions with counterparts in neighboring countries to simplify border crossing procedures.
A key issue raised was the difficulty tourists face when trying to book tickets for domestic flights and trains. Some have trouble purchasing tickets even six months in advance. In response, officials have been tasked with launching a unified online platform that will provide comprehensive information about available routes and tickets. This platform will implement a tiered pricing system, allowing tickets to be sold at least six months in advance.
