Uzbekistan to strengthen trade-economic ties with Belgium

On November 22, 2018, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met in Brussels with Didier Reynders, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Belgium.

The sides reviewed bilateral relations, focusing on promising areas for further development of cooperation, including in the Uzbekistan-European Union format.

The Belgian side expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan’s support for its candidacy in voting for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2019-2020.

It was noted at the meeting that both sides attach great importance to the deepening of trade, economic and investment ties. Uzbekistan welcomes the intensification of the Belgian business community in the implementation of mutually beneficial projects in such sectors of the economy as the textile, electrical industry and construction sphere.

The meeting also discussed issues of deepening cooperation in environmental, cultural and humanitarian areas.
