Eurasian Development Bank seeks to see Uzbekistan as its member, Andrei Belyaninov, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said during an International Conference on Eurasian Economic Integration in Moscow.

“Unfortunately, Uzbekistan is not a member of the bank yet. We would really be glad to see it join us,” Mr. Belyaninov said.

According to him, the bank has already taken daunt steps to strengthen ties with the republic. It has promising plans to expand cooperation in number of areas.

“It would be useful for the both sides, if Uzbekistan decided to become a member” the Chairman noted.

He said that the bank appreciates the economic growth of the country and really looks forward to working with it, but “it is almost impossible to set ties with Uzbekistan using mandate system, which is a big minus.”

It is worth noting that in September 2018, Eurasian Development Bank announced its plans to open a representative office in Uzbekistan.
