Mass brawl erupts between Chinese and Uzbek workers in Russia; 25 arrested
Twenty-five workers from China and Uzbekistan have been detained following a mass brawl at a construction site in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk.
According to reports, the fight broke out on May 19 on Glinka Street, where citizens of China and Uzbekistan are employed. The incident came to the attention of local police through social media monitoring.
More than ten individuals were involved in the altercation. One of the participants reportedly attempted to calm the crowd, stating that “the supervisor will resolve the issue.” It has been noted that the men involved work for a Chinese construction company.
As a result of the clash, four individuals sought medical attention. However, the nature and severity of their injuries have not been disclosed.
Preliminary findings suggest that the dispute stemmed from a personal argument.
“In the course of further investigation, 25 active participants in the incident were taken to the police station,” the official statement said.
A criminal case has been initiated under charges of minor bodily harm. Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting investigative actions to clarify the full circumstances of the event.
