Nodirbek Yakubboyev becomes champion of Prague Chess Festival Challengers 2025
Uzbek grandmaster Nodirbek Yakubboyev has claimed victory at the Prague Chess Festival Challengers 2025, as announced by the Uzbekistan Chess Federation's press service.

Competing in the "Challengers" group of the traditional Prague International Chess Festival in Prague, Yakubboyev defeated his opponent Jonas Bjerre and secured the championship title. Throughout the tournament, he remained undefeated, scoring 7 points after 9 rounds.
In addition to winning the championship, Nodirbek also earned a spot in the "Masters" group of the 2026 edition of the tournament.
It is worth noting that the International Chess Federation (FIDE) recently updated its rankings after the end of February. In the updated world rankings, Nodirbek Yakubboyev is listed in 71st place with a rating of 2654.
