Uzbekistan opens trading house in Mazar-i-Sharif

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan has announced the opening of a new trading house in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif as part of efforts to strengthen economic ties.

Plans are underway to procure cotton fiber, yarn, and sugar from Afghan factories, while the facility aims to provide Uzbek entrepreneurs with a convenient platform to access the market, expand exports, and establish business partnerships.

The trading house covers an area of 220 square meters. It includes a showroom for pharmaceutical products, electrical equipment, and building materials, as well as a warehouse.

In addition to the opening of the trading house, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Davron Vakhobov, visited the local textile enterprise Nasaji Textile Factory during his trip. He held talks with its management on cooperation projects, export and import matters.

The parties agreed on the supply of cotton fiber and yarn to Uzbekistan, as well as the export of textile products and semi-finished goods. The meeting also touched on opportunities for experience exchange and increasing production volumes.

Vakhobov also visited the Baglan Sugar Company to discuss technological cooperation, raw material imports, and sugar product exports. An agreement was reached on "strengthening production and expanding trade ties."

Nasaji Textile Factory is one of the oldest and largest textile enterprises in Afghanistan, founded in the 1920s. It produces cotton yarn, fabrics, and finished products, including for export. The factory employs more than 350 people.

Founded in 1938, Baglan Sugar Company is considered one of the largest in Afghanistan’s sugar industry.
