Banks may block cards after 12 months of inactivity
According to current regulations, banks in Uzbekistan can unilaterally block payment cards that remain inactive for over 12 months, the Humo payment system's press service said.

“To avoid unexpected blocking, it is recommended to temporarily disable your unused Humo cards in advance via @humocardbot. This measure helps ensure card security and prevents unnecessary blocking by the bank,” the statement reads.
At the end of January, the financial news outlet Bankers.uz reported that banks had begun notifying customers about the potential blocking of "inactive" cards after 12 months. This may be linked to new requirements introduced by the Central Bank, which temporarily limits the number of cards issued to a single individual (one taxpayer identification number) to a maximum of five per bank and 20 across all banks.
However, the Central Bank has not officially announced any mandatory requirement for commercial banks to block cards inactive for a year.
Meanwhile, commercial banks have started sending SMS notifications to customers regarding their bank cards. The Central Bank clarified that these messages are intended to inform individuals about the cards registered in their names.
