President of Uzbekistan and Emir of Kuwait discuss strengthening bilateral relations across multiple sectors

On February 17, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Kuwait held a meeting in a narrow circle and official talks with their respective delegations at the Al-Bayan Palace in Kuwait City.

At the start of the conversation, President Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude to the Emir for the warm welcome and high level of attention, and congratulated the Kuwaiti leadership and people on the upcoming national holidays.

President Mirziyoyev also specifically highlighted Kuwait’s "Vision 2035" state program, which aligns with the long-term priorities of Uzbekistan’s New Development Strategy.

The talks focused on expanding cooperation in trade, economic, investment, innovation, and financial-technical sectors.

Priority areas for cooperation were identified, including green energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, transportation and logistics, infrastructure, urban development, healthcare, and tourism.

To facilitate joint projects, mechanisms such as the Investment Platform and the Business Council were established, and an agreement was reached to open a trade house in Kuwait City.

As part of the new partnership program, particular attention was paid to expanding the project portfolio with the Kuwait Arab Economic Development Fund.

Moreover, both leaders agreed to hold cultural and tourism weeks in both countries and to support the active participation of their representatives in cultural and humanitarian events, including in the fields of arts, music, cinema, education, and sports.

The leaders also emphasized the importance of continuing mutual support within key international organizations, such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other prominent bodies.

The preparation and organization of the "Central Asia - GCC" summit, which will be held in Samarkand in May 2025, was discussed in detail.

The two leaders also exchanged views on urgent international and regional issues of shared interest.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both leaders decided to advance and strengthen their comprehensive partnership. President Mirziyoyev extended an invitation to the Emir of Kuwait to visit Uzbekistan.
