Gas pipeline leak causes fire in Bukhara region

A fire broke out on February 10 after a gas leak from an underground main pipeline with a diameter of 1020 mm on the "Bukhara–Ural" gas pipeline in the Bukhara region. The blaze was extinguished once the gas supply was shut off, and local sources indicate that methane filling stations in the area have been temporarily closed.

According to the regional Emergency Situations Department, the incident took place at 11:26 AM on the 106th kilometer of an underground pipeline managed by the Gazli Main Gas Pipelines Department. The pipeline, with a diameter of 1020 mm and operating under 26 kg of pressure, was damaged.

At 11:30 AM, the valves were closed, allowing the remaining gas to escape and stopping the fire.

No casualties or injuries were reported. According to the Emergency Situations Department, the nearest settlement to the accident site is the Kizilrabot neighborhood in Romitan district, which is located 40 km away.

Telegram channels in the Bukhara region have reported that methane filling stations in the area were temporarily closed.

The Ministry of Energy initially announced that temporary restrictions would be imposed on methane filling stations until the situation was resolved. However, this part of the ministry's statement was later removed.

A short time later, the ministry released a clarifying statement, confirming that all methane filling stations across the country would continue to operate under the current regime.

"Following further investigations, it was confirmed that all vehicle gas filling compressor stations will continue to operate according to the previously agreed schedule with regional administrations. Their operations will be adjusted based on regional demand and the pressure in the gas pipelines.

Any further changes regarding this issue will be communicated to the public," the Ministry of Energy stated.
