Government announces energy subsidies and one-time support for needy households
The government of Uzbekistan will introduce state compensation for electricity and gas payments for low-income families during the heating season.

According to a report by UzA, starting May 1, 2025, until April 1, 2027, families meeting certain criteria will be eligible for this support through the Unified Social Protection Register. This includes:
- Families already receiving child benefits or financial assistance,
- Households listed in the Low-Income Families Register, and
- Families not yet registered but whose per capita monthly income does not exceed 1.5 times the minimum consumption expenditure level.
Under this program, the government will compensate the difference in tariff between standard and increased rates for energy consumption beyond the basic norms:
- Electricity: up to 150 kWh per month,
- Natural gas: up to 250 cubic meters during the heating season and up to 150 cubic meters in other periods.
One-time payment of 1 million UZS during the heating season
To provide additional support during the 2025/2026 heating season, a one-time financial aid of 1 million UZS will be allocated in November 2025 to two groups:
- Families registered in the official social support databases.
- Families not listed in the registers but identified as in need based on the “Mahalla Seven” community council’s recommendation.
The following vulnerable groups will be prioritized for this additional assistance:
- Families who have lost their primary breadwinner,
- Households with members who are disabled (Group I or II),
- Families caring for children with disabilities,
- Households with members undergoing long-term medical treatment,
- Elderly or disabled people living alone and needing external care,
- Households with three or more families living together,
- Residents of multi-storey buildings without gas supply or centralized heating.
The number of families added through the supplementary list should not exceed 40% of the number of families already registered in the official databases.
