Erkinjon Turdimov, a prominent state figure, was born on July 10, 1969, in the Kushrabad district of Samarkand region.
He graduated in 1991 from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy — now the Tashkent State University of Economics — with a degree in economics. Afterward, he worked in the banking sector for several years. From 2000 to 2008, he served as the governor of the Khatyrchi district in Navoi region.
In 2008, Turdimov was called to Tashkent and appointed as the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources. However, later that same year, he returned to Navoi to take up the role of regional governor. He led Navoi region from 2008 to 2016, Surkhandarya region from 2016 to 2018, and Samarkand region from 2018 to 2024.
One of the most memorable moments was the deep sadness expressed by the people of Surkhandarya when he was transferred to Samarkand.
"Dear fellow countrymen, I am deeply grateful to the people of Surkhandarya. Over my 1 year and 7 months here, I have learned so much from the people of this region. I consider myself forever indebted to them," Turdimov said in his farewell address to the residents of Surkhandarya.
During his tenure, Turdimov oversaw the implementation of numerous significant social and economic projects in Samarkand region. He resigned in November 2024 due to health reasons. Now, just two months later, he has been entrusted with the leadership of Syrdarya region.
At 55 years old, Turdimov has received notable awards, including the "Labor Glory" and "For Selfless Service" orders. He is widely recognized as a distinguished state figure, admired for his professional achievements and the respect he has earned from the people.
