Sardor Umurzakov appointed Presidential Advisor on Strategic Development

Sardor Umurzakov has been appointed as the Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan on Strategic Development. In connection with this appointment, he has been relieved of his previous position as the Presidential Advisor on Special Assignments.

Born on November 23, 1977, in Tashkent, Umurzakov earned his bachelor's degree from Tashkent State University of Economics and completed a master's program at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. He holds a PhD in Philosophy (Economics).

From 2000 to 2003, he worked in the system of the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan. Between 2003 and 2007, he served at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Following that, he held various senior positions within the Ministry of Finance, including Deputy and First Deputy Head of the Treasury, and Head of the Tashkent City Treasury.

From 2014 to 2017, Umurzakov was an advisor to the Chairman of the Board of the Uzbek Association of Leather and Footwear Industry. From 2017 to 2018, he served as Deputy Chairman. After the association was reorganized into “Uzcharmsanoat,” he chaired the association from 2018 to 2019.

On January 28, 2019, Umurzakov was appointed Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade. On March 10, 2020, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

He headed the Presidential Administration from 2022 to 2023. After stepping down from that post, he was appointed as Presidential Advisor on Special Assignments. Most recently, he was seen during the President’s visit to Chilanzar district on July 10.
