Uzbekistan prohibits law enforcement officers from engaging in commercial activities, performing religious rituals while on duty

The following prohibitions and limitations have been established:

  • Engaging in commercial or other paid activities not related to scientific, creative, or teaching endeavors;
  • Receiving gifts, rewards, or benefits from individuals or organizations in exchange for fulfilling or not fulfilling their official duties in favor of these entities;
  • Using unauthorized privileges or preferences associated with their position;
  • Participating in gambling activities, including through information and communication technologies (ICT);
  • Applying for foreign citizenship or permanent residence permits;
  • Holding bank accounts or owning property abroad, except for accounts used for education, training, or medical treatment;
  • Performing religious rituals while on duty, except in specific circumstances.

Failure to adhere to these restrictions will result in disciplinary or legal action.

The law also outlines grounds for denying servicemen of compulsory military service the opportunity to transition to contractual military service. Reasons include being subject to criminal investigations or having a criminal record.
