During the meeting, Abai Turikpenbayev, Chairman of the Board of the Aktau Port, provided a comprehensive overview of the port’s current operations and future developments. He highlighted the port’s strategic role in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which connects Central Asia to global markets.

Turikpenbayev noted that Aktau Port is diversifying its operations to include transit and container shipments, enabling it to serve as a critical hub for regional trade. In 2024, the port aims to handle over 5 million tons of transit cargo, with plans to expand its capacity further by enlarging the port’s water area.

The Aktau Port’s emphasis on containerized shipping presents significant opportunities for Uzbek exporters. Turikpenbayev underscored that container transport is becoming a global standard, especially in trade between China and Europe, where approximately 90% of cargo is containerized. He encouraged Uzbek businesses to enhance their expertise in container logistics to maximize the benefits of this trade model.

The meeting concluded with agreements on bilateral cooperation and the development of joint projects to enhance trade through the Aktau Port. These initiatives aim to strengthen economic ties between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan while boosting regional connectivity and trade efficiency.
