The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change announced a draft presidential resolution titled “Additional Measures for Introducing Environmental Innovations and Climate Technologies in the Aral Sea Region Until 2030.” The proposed resolution focuses on promoting “green entrepreneurship” in the region and will include various measures to support sustainable practices.
A key element of the project is the Aral Valley Climate Technology Expo Hub, which will specialize in cultivating drought-resistant plant species suited to the local climate, along with processing and producing export-ready goods. This hub aims to develop Uzbekistan's climate-resilient agricultural sector while attracting investors interested in sustainable projects.
The initiative will also support startups by organizing an international competition for eco-friendly products, seed and sapling production, and plantation establishment. To bolster local businesses, preferential loans will be offered to enterprises engaged in these sustainable practices, enhancing opportunities for both local and foreign investment and fostering export growth.
To engage the international community and highlight the ecological challenges of the Aral Sea region, a large-scale Climate Expo exhibition will also be held in the area. In addition, Muynak will host an open-air “Aral Nature Laboratory,” intended to serve as a hands-on research and educational facility focusing on sustainable development in the region.
The Ministry of Ecology noted that the resolution is open to public feedback, with amendments and improvements to be made based on recommendations and expert input.
