The adjustment is part of a decree from the Cabinet of Ministers, titled "On Additional Measures for Introducing Market Mechanisms in the Energy Sector," which responds to the heightened need for heating as temperatures drop during the winter.
From November to February, during the heating season, natural gas pricing for households will follow a tiered structure:
- up to 500 cubic meters: 650 UZS per cubic meter
- 501 to 2,500 cubic meters: 1,500 UZS per cubic meter
- 2,501 to 5,000 cubic meters: 1,950 UZS per cubic meter
- 5,001 to 10,000 cubic meters: 2,275 UZS per cubic meter
- above 10,000 cubic meters: 2,600 UZS per cubic meter
The sharp price increase beyond the 500 cubic meter limit is intended to encourage careful monitoring of gas consumption. Consumers are urged to track their daily gas usage, as exceeding the social norm will result in a price jump from 650 UZS to 1,500 UZS per cubic meter.
Kun.uz reached out to the press service of "Khududgazta’minot" JSC to inquire whether a mobile application will be developed to allow citizens to monitor and control their daily gas consumption. As of now, no official response has been provided.
