Customs authorities intercept 888 kg of drugs, 34 firearms at borders in nine months

During the meeting, officials revealed significant progress in combatting illegal trade and managing risks. Customs authorities intercepted the unlawful movement of goods worth 757 billion UZS, with illegal imports accounting for 356 billion UZS worth of seized items.

The crackdown on illegal activities also led to the confiscation of 888 kilograms of narcotic substances, 406,000 units of psychotropic and potent drugs, tobacco products valued at 59 billion UZS, as well as 34 firearms and 1,187 rounds of ammunition.

In terms of customs clearance, 754,000 customs cargo declarations were processed over the nine-month period. Notably, 15% of these were completed automatically without human intervention, with the automation rate for export declarations reaching 41%.
