24 illegal firearms seized in Andijan during massive law enforcement raid

Law enforcement authorities in Andijan have cracked down on multiple criminal activities as part of the "Clean-up" operational-preventive measures, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

During the operation, authorities identified 702 violations, including 106 criminal and 596 administrative offenses. A total of 117 individuals faced criminal charges, while 633 others were subject to administrative penalties. Law enforcement successfully solved 39 crimes, arrested 30 wanted individuals, and issued official warnings to 1,123 people.

In the course of these operations, authorities seized 4.5 kg of narcotics, 1,452 strong-acting drug tablets, 24 illegal firearms, and 478 bladed weapons, all of which were documented as material evidence.

Key incidents uncovered during the operations

- Extortion case: Two individuals, born in 2006 and 2002, were arrested for conspiring to blackmail a woman born in 1988 by threatening to leak her personal information on social media. They demanded $5,000 and were caught in the act while collecting $2,500.

- Illegal land deal: In Andijan city, a resident of Khojaabad district was detained for attempting to sell 2 hectares of land for $300,000, falsely claiming he could arrange official documentation through his high-ranking contacts. He was arrested while receiving an advance payment of $50,000.

- Drug bust: A man born in 1967, residing in Andijan, was found storing narcotics and controlled substances in the basement of his house. Authorities confiscated 2.037 kg of marijuana and 86 strong-acting drug tablets, which he had intended to sell.

- Illegal religious education: Authorities discovered that two individuals had been providing unauthorized religious lessons to 13 minors at a private residence in Andijan city since August 2024 in exchange for material benefits.

- In another case, a man born in 1988 in Andijan district was caught illegally teaching religious lessons to seven citizens.

All cases are now under official investigation, with necessary legal documents prepared and investigative procedures underway.

Recent law enforcement operations

Previously, similar "Clean-up" operations were conducted in Fergana region by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. These efforts focused on public order, crime prevention, and road safety. Authorities took action against eight individuals for illegally possessing hunting rifles and 27 people for carrying bladed weapons in public places.

From January 27 to 31, the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out a nationwide "Anti-Terror Clean-up" operation to stabilize the criminal situation and identify dangerous individuals and criminal networks. During the operation, 418 suspects prone to committing serious crimes were detained.

On February 3-4, the first phase of the nationwide "Qoradori" (Illegal drugs) operation resulted in the seizure of over 112 kg of narcotics.

Additionally, from February 5-7, the SSS and MIA conducted large-scale "Oriyat" and "Qoradori" operations to combat crime across the country.
