Uzbekistan and Malaysian state Kedah discuss charter flights and economic cooperation to boost tourism

During the visit, a meeting was held with Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, a member of the Kedah State Executive Council and Chairman of the Committee on Investments and Industry, Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation. The purpose was to explore prospects for advancing mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.

Dr. Hilman announced plans to increase the flow of tourists from Kedah to Uzbekistan’s historical sites and modern ski resorts, and vice versa, by organizing charter flights on the Tashkent–Langkawi–Tashkent route during the tourist season.

The Malaysian side expressed readiness to support the Uzbek proposal for establishing direct trade and economic relations with one of Uzbekistan's regions.

Kedah is located in the northern part of the Malaysian Peninsula, covering an area of 9,500 square kilometers and with a population of 2.2 million people. The state is known for its rice cultivation and motorcycle production, and it is home to the world-famous Langkawi resort island.
