At a meeting held on May 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that all facilities operating in the city of Khiva should exclusively serve tourists.
New administrative buildings will be constructed on a vacant plot of land in the Angarik neighborhood, and all state institutions currently based in Khiva will be relocated there.
Relevant officials have been tasked with developing a major program to sell all administrative buildings located in Urgench and Khiva.
As part of the privatization program, 41 government buildings and 350 hectares of land plots in Khorezm are scheduled to be put up for sale in 2025.
“This represents a significant opportunity for the service, tourism, and manufacturing sectors,” said the president.
For example, in Urgench, a study revealed 45 government buildings with a total area of 61,000 square meters and 21 hectares of land. The plan is to convert these into hotels, service and trade centers, and entertainment venues, which could provide employment for at least 500 people.
