The investigation was prompted by an advertising campaign displayed on an external advertising site in Tashkent. The ad claimed that money transfers through the Sello Pay app were free of commission.

According to the company's official website, a promotion for money transfers to bank cards via Sello Pay started on July 1. This promotion is available to all new users who have completed identification and is valid for three months.

If the monthly volume of user transfers exceeds 3 million sums, a 1% commission will be charged on transactions exceeding this amount. The advertisement did not provide detailed terms of the promotion.

The special commission found Marketplace Trading guilty of violating Articles 16 (advertising requirements), 21 (conduct of promotional campaigns), and 43 (advertising of financial services) of the Advertising Law. The company also violated Article 7 of the Consumer Protection Law.

A financial penalty was imposed on the company, and the Committee issued a directive requiring the company to rectify the violations and prevent them in the future.

In the past two months, the Competition Committee has imposed fines on four banks for advertising services that potentially misled customers.
