Uzbekistan and FAO to expand cooperation on food security, digital agriculture, and innovation

At the start of the meeting, the high-ranking UN representative expressed deep gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for supporting the successful organization of the International Forum on Food Security., which is being attended by delegations from over 30 countries.

During the discussion, both parties reviewed further expansion of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and FAO to address modern challenges and threats effectively.

The fruitful results of recent years’ cooperation were acknowledged with satisfaction. Qualitative indicators of the Country Cooperation Program through 2025 have improved twofold.

Currently, 34 projects are in active implementation, with 7 new projects launched in the past year. These projects span various sectors, including agriculture, school nutrition, veterinary services, agrochemistry, and others.

The importance of developing and adopting a new five-year partnership program was emphasized.

Special attention was given to prospective joint projects and initiatives in the digitalization of the agro-industrial sector, sharing advanced knowledge and experience, attracting innovation and investment to improve soil fertility, the cultivation and processing of organic agricultural products, the modernization of irrigation systems, the creation of modern clusters and logistics centers, and conducting scientific research.

The parties also exchanged views on global and regional food security issues.
